Our employment program includes: job coaching, job searching, placement assistance, resume preparation, resume workshops, and employment related seminars. The first step in job coaching is to complete a self-assessment evaluation form. You discover what your job-related skills, interest, and needs really are. You learn about your personality type and work preferences and use this information to set goals and answer interview questions. You will create, edit, and format effective resumes and cover letters and fill out job application forms. Resume workshops are offered the first and second Fridays of each month from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Job searching is conducted through several media: internet, classifieds, phone calls, job fairs, and networking. The employment specialist assists with placement by supplying job leads, maintaining contact with prospective employers, and monitoring electronic media for job sites. Free employment related seminars are offered weekly. Those who attend learn strategies for re-entering the job-market, how to deal with disclosure, discrimination, and harassment on the job, and how to interpret and apply the ADA Act. We hold a Job Club every Monday at 3:15 for interested students. |
